After speaking to lots of you recently I have learnt the thing sufferers of alopecia fear the most, is losing all of their hair. Myself included. So if you’re sat there reading this thinking the same, don’t worry hun, you’re not the only one!
I used to be terrified that one day I would lose so much that I would eventually have to wear a wig every day to hide my head from the world.
However, to tackle this subject now before I get to that stage I have decided to jump the hurdle early and try some wigs on. Exciting (but slightly nerve-racking) stuff!
As I have said in previous posts, one of my reasons for starting ‘Life on a Strand’ was to inspire, encourage and motivate sufferers of the auto immune disease, alopecia. And I am hoping that sharing my journey with you does just that.
Some of you have told me that you are too embarrassed or nervous to go and try on wigs, for fear of being laughed at or judged. I hope that after you see me do it, you will feel more confident in yourselves and feel the courage to do what could potentially make you feel happier in your own skin. You should never be ashamed of who you are. We are all beautiful.
I am actually rather excited and can’t wait to see what different styles, colours and types are available. Who knows, I may even become a blonde bombshell!
So on Wednesday evening I am off to my friends house for a takeaway, wine and wig night!
Don’t worry, I will write a full post giving my opinions, and of course sharing lots of PHOTOS!
Watch this space guys 💙
